1. I seek a marriage partner.
2. I am not single, but, after a lengthy separation, I soon will be, although I don't know exactly when. It depends upon court back log. My not being exactly unencumbered is no statement upon my character or faithfulness since I was abandon without cause.
3. Although I would not make it the acid test for my future wife's acceptability, if she wanted children, I would be overjoyed.
4. I have an M.A. in Literature and Composition from the University of Maine. My reading taste is eclectic; I like Victorian novels, I like the Brownings, Kafka, Eliot, Baudelaire, Tolstoy, and Beowulf. I like avant-guard poetry. I like Shakespeare. I even enjoy literary criticism and children's literature. I would like to sit quietly beside someone I loved and read at day's end.
5. I am considered a superb academic writer, but the only creative work I have done is a bit of the most awful poetasting.
6. I view my computer as a tool. I never surf.
7. I believe drinking and public dancing are things a dedicated Christian should not do.
8. I am not noteworthy for my looks, either good or bad. I will post a poorly done photo.
9. Jesus Christ is, and always will be, first in my life. He will be the center of my family, and the locus around which my love for wife and family will revolve. I am born-again by His grace, bought by His sacrifice, and I wish I found it easier to be dedicated to His service. I am a Baptist by doctrinal conviction. I have done some carpenter work at our church. I have taught several different Sunday School classes at our church, most recently the adult class. My work now, temporarily, interferes with church service. For a time, I must work out of town during the week. I expect this to end fairly soon.
10. I like kayaking (built my own) on lakes and quiet streams, picnicking in the park or at the shore, and watching movies. Baxter State Park in Maine is not at all like Central Park in New York. At one time or another, I have avidly pursued, motorcycling, woodworking, sailing, photography, and other things. I like the symphony, but it has been a while since I have been able to go. I can find an interest almost anywhere.
11. I am 53 years old, but I suspect the woman over 40 who would enjoy my company for a long time is a very rare item. I am more interested in building, discovering, and seeing than I am in resting and reminiscing.
12. I have an intense dislike for almost any kind of game'especially phootball!
I am looking for someone who can respect me enough to believe that I constantly put my family's best interest before my own selfish desires, to trust me enough to believe that my judgment is excellent, as the judgment of men goes, and who can be glad to be seen with me in public. I want someone to smile when I enter a room. I want someone who can express disagreement without losing respect, who can give her family the benefit of her wisdom even when she isn't getting her way. I want someone who understands the meaning of marriage vows and the serious nature of 'until death do us part, ? and who can live in the spirit as well as the letter of those vows. I want love. Though this may sound like a tall order from internet dating, I believe that people who respect each other and are willing to place themselves at emotional risk by loving and who know I Corinthians 13, can fall in love deeply and romantically with ease. Love is very largely about sacrificing for the one loved. I believe that I have a lot of love to give. If I meet a woman who is close to God with a faith and practice like mine, if she has a willingness to take an emotional risk on me, almost everything else will be negotiable. All will be as God wills it.
